The Director is the Chief Executive of the Centre and is responsible for the management, administration and development of the perspective plan for the institution by providing effective leadership. He is expected to lead the institution to international standards in the field of Earth Systems and related Sciences.

The appointment is on contract, for a period of 5 years or superannuation, whichever is earlier.

Qualification : Ph.D. in any branch of Earth System Sciences including Planetary Sciences

Experience : Minimum of 15 years in a Research/Academic/R&D institution of which 10 years should be at a senior level, of which 5 years shall be in the cadre of Scientist F (Rs.16400-20000/-) or shall be presently holding the post of Scientist G (Rs.18400-22400/-). Scientists with minimum of 7 years experience at the level of E2/equivalent (Rs.14300-18300/-)
